ARRIVAL INFORMATION

ARRIVING AT SCHROEDER CREEK

Your last chance for gas and groceries is Kaslo, so stock up on any last-minute needs before heading 15km north to Schroeder Creek Resort. Turn on to Bickel Road and drive to the end of the road at the beach.

Schroeder Creek Resort is a small community with limited services. Cell phone reception is spotty at best. There is a small sundries store, but don’t expect to find much. Be a good neighbour by being respectful with regards to parking and leaving no garbage or recycling behind.

Plan to arrive before mid-afternoon so there is plenty of time to call the boat, unload your gear and then set up your camp upon arrival at Fry Creek.

CALLING THE BOAT

Use the Camp Radio to call the Camp Director between 8am and 8pm. The walkie-talkie radio is in the lidded brown wooden box on the side of the little grey outhouse just a little north of the road in the beach parking lot. Radio instructions are also available in the box. In good weather the boat will usually arrive within an hour. The boat will not run if winds or waves are high or conditions are unsafe.

Radio Instructions:
  1. Turn RADIO ON. It should come up automatically to Channel 9.
  2. Hold down the button on the side to call WILDERNESS CAMP. CALLING CAMP.
  3. Confirm number in your party. The camp director will let you know when to expect the boat.
  4. After you finish confirming pick up arrangements TURN RADIO OFF and return to the box.

UNLOADING YOUR GEAR

It is suggested that you do not unload your gear until the camp director has confirmed that the boat can pick you up. Be careful not to drive your vehicle too far onto the beach at the end of Bickel Road. The sand can be very soft and it’s easy to get stuck.

Once the pick up is confirmed unload your gear and walk it as close to the water as possible on the beach. The boat normally pulls in just north of the small rocky point.

PARKING YOUR CAR

Park your car along the north side of Bickel Road at the beach end. If you cannot find space, the boat operator may be able to suggest something. Lock your car and leave no valuables inside. As part of your camping fees, you will be requested to donate $1 per day, per vehicle for parking. This donation goes to support the Schroeder Creek Community Association.

SIGNING A WAIVER

Prior to departing on the camp boat for Wilderness Camp, you will be required to sign a waiver form. Completion of this form is mandatory for all campers. Download this form below and have it ready to go!
